Privacy notice
Last updated: 2 November 2026
TopBand is an independent revision and tuition service for GCSE and A-level Politics, History, English and Spanish, based in England. This notice explains what we do with information you give us. You can contact us at [email protected].
What we collect
- Enquiries: when you email us, including through the enquiry form, your name, email address, whether you are a student, parent or teacher, your subject and exam board, and your message.
- Purchases: when you buy a resource, your name, email address and order details. Card or PayPal payments are handled by Payhip, Stripe or PayPal; we never see your full card details.
- Free downloads and email updates: if you sign up for a free resource, your email address and, if you choose, updates about new resources.
- Free quizzes: the quizzes run in your browser and do not ask for or store any personal details.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to enquiries and arrange tuition (our legitimate interests, or steps before a contract).
- To deliver what you buy, send receipts and handle refunds (performing our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep tax records).
- To send email updates, only if you have opted in (your consent). Every email has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your details.
Who processes it for us
Enquiries arrive in our email account, provided by Google. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps short-term technical logs and gives us anonymous visitor counts without using cookies. Our shop provider, Payhip, processes orders and email sign-ups, with payments handled by Stripe and PayPal. Each has its own privacy policy, and some may store data outside the UK under recognised safeguards.
How long we keep it
We delete enquiries that do not lead to tuition within 12 months. We keep order records for six years, as UK tax law requires. Email sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe.
Children
Our resources are written for students aged 14 to 18. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or carer to contact us or buy on your behalf.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
